Daily Wanderlust: a view of the Land of Valencia

I’ve gotten to do some pretty sweet things in my travels, including off-roading in Spain. I’m not the biggest fan of (the very British) Benidorm, but put me in a bright yellow Jeep, throw in some awesome people and tell me we are going off-roading and I am sold. We cruised up, up, up andContinue reading “Daily Wanderlust: a view of the Land of Valencia”

Goodbye, America

I’m quiet on the drive to Dulles from my house. I’ve already cried saying goodbye to the pups, and now, staring out the window as the suns rays just begin to kiss the tops of the trees, I hold back tears. I’m leaving America. I am leaving the life I know. I don’t take myContinue reading “Goodbye, America”

Daily Wanderlust: The golden hour at Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

Walking down the main drag in Sunny Beach reminds me a lot of Senior Beach Week in Ocean City, Maryland: scantily clad teens and college-aged kids, families, and heaps of parties (hello, laser-foam-pink-eye-factory shenanigans). Like Benidorm in Spain, Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach is lacking a bit of the local culture. But, for what it lacks inContinue reading “Daily Wanderlust: The golden hour at Sunny Beach, Bulgaria”

‘Twas the night before Expat Life

“You’re moving to Thailand?” It’s been since February when I knew my future would take me to Thailand and I would become an expat. For nearly five months, my life has been in this stop-wait-move pattern. Stop. Wait. Move. Stop. Wait. Move. It gets tiresome after awhile. And severely emotionally draining. Five months is aContinue reading “‘Twas the night before Expat Life”

Daily Wanderlust: Bebelplatz in Berlin, Germany

There is a lot of history in Berlin, Germany. Without a doubt. The Wall. The old artist squats and street art. The stark Holocaust memorial. The reminders of a recent dark past can be found throughout this gorgeous an historic city. During my time in Berlin, I took two tours — one that dealt withContinue reading “Daily Wanderlust: Bebelplatz in Berlin, Germany”

Daily Wanderlust: The leather of Fez, Morocco

Morocco is a whirlwind of sights, sounds, smells. From the souks to the orange juice stands, the medinas are a constant attack of the senses until you are able to escape to a riad. Honestly, it was not my favorite place in my travels. It was very hard to be a solo female throughout mostContinue reading “Daily Wanderlust: The leather of Fez, Morocco”

Daily Wanderlust: The London Eye

With everyone having Olympic Fever, I figured I’d open up the dusty photo album of London today and take a stroll down memory lane. Travel back in time with me … there I was, fresh-faced, eyes wide open, wandering the streets of London during my first few days of long-term travel way back in MarchContinue reading “Daily Wanderlust: The London Eye”

Help yourself to a Slice of Swedish Hospitality

The little blond two-year-old boy with an angelic face lifts his little arms up to me, motioning for a hug. We’ve only met a couple of hours ago, but in the short time I’ve managed to secure more high fives than normal and gotten those adorable little kid giggles to come from him. A smileContinue reading “Help yourself to a Slice of Swedish Hospitality”

Daily Wanderlust: the beaches of Benidorm, Spain

If you’ve ever visited Benidorm, Spain, you will notice it isn’t like other parts of the country. Sure, the beach is beautiful and packed with people, but a large part of the tourist crowd in this neck of the Land of Valencia are of the British variety. Fish and chip shops mingle with tapas bars;Continue reading “Daily Wanderlust: the beaches of Benidorm, Spain”

Getting naked in Sweden

//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js // <![CDATA[ (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); // ]]> My name is D and I used to be, as one friend put it, “a big, girlie prude.” Never would I think of even taking off my shirt in a public, or semi-public place. In fact, when I first stopped at the baths in Budapest,Continue reading “Getting naked in Sweden”
